Abstract
China' s TFT-LCD panel industry is not as well-developed as those in Japan,
Korea, and Taiwan, but it is a key part of China' s Eleventh Five-Year Plan,
and China' s LCD market is among the fastest-growing in the world. These
factors have contributed to the rise of the country' s TFT-LCD industry.
China' s leading TFT-LCD manufacturers are SVA-NEC, BOE, and IVO, with SVA-NEC
and BOE boasting the largest production capacity. In late 2006, the three
announced a merger to halt continued financial losses and planned to complete
the merger in the third quarter of 2007. This report analyzes the current
development of SVA-NEC and BOE.
