Abstract
The last few years have seen significant changes in mobile phone distribution
in China. The adoption of customized mobile phones by mobile operators China
Mobile and China Unicom has strengthened the relative importance of the
operator channel compared to the open channel. At the same time, the networks
of mobile phone retail outlets established by Gome and Suning have eroded the
market share held by large specialist mobile phone distributors such as
D.Phone and Zhongyu. For small and medium-sized mobile phone vendors, TV
shopping, and online shopping have become important sales channels. This
report analyzes the changes in the structure of mobile phone distribution in
China.
