Abstract
This research report presents forecast and recent quarter review of the
Taiwanese server motherboard industry. The report includes server motherboard,
full system, barebone, and motherboard shipment volume, shipment value, ASP,
volume and share by maker and by price point, and manufacturer volume ranking.
Also includes shipment by CPU architecture and CPU count. Production
locations, shipment destinations, business types, and customer portfolios are
also examined. . The content of this report is based on primary data obtained
through interviews with server motherboard makers. The report finds that the
subprime mortgage crisis and the appreciation of the Taiwan dollar against the
US dollar have affected Taiwanese makers' server motherboard shipments in the
first quarter of 2008. However, the influence was limited due to the fact that
88.7% of Taiwanese server motherboards were produced in China. Furthermore,
other key trends in 2008 include rising shipment share of two-way CPU systems
and the continuing erosion of the high-end non-x86 server market by x86
servers.
