The Taiwanese Basic/Feature Phone Industry, 3Q 2008

Abstract

This report presents forecast and recent quarter review of Taiwanese basic/feature phone shipment volume, shipment value, ASP, volume and share by maker and by price point, and manufacturer volume ranking. The report also includes product mix analyses, including phone type, system technology, display color count mix, embedded camera and camera array format, and handset shape. Assembly levels, production locations, shipment destinations, business types, and customer portfolios are also examined. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with basic/feature phone makers. The report finds that the Taiwanese basic/feature phone shipment volume and value both experienced declines in the second quarter of 2008 as the industry continued to be affected by Motorola' s shipment slowdown. In the second half of 2008, shipment volume of the industry is expected to experience year-on-year declines.
