Abstract
The report is devoted to investigation of current standing of market of kaolin
in the CIS and forecast of the market development. The report consists of 8
Sections, contains 120 pages, including 32 Figures, 56 Tables and 3
Appendices. This work is desk study. As information sources, we used data of
Rosstat, Inter-State Committee on Statistics of CIS countries, Federal Customs
Service of Russia, official domestic railage statistic of JSC RZhD (former
Ministry of Railway Transport of Russia), State Customs Service of Ukraine,
State Statistic Agency of Ukraine, sectoral (industrial) and regional press,
annual and quarterly reports of companies, as well as data from web-sites of
company-producers of kaolin.
The first Section of the report presents description of kaolin deposits in CIS
countries and their reserves, as well as map of location of the greatest
deposits of kaolin in the CIS.
The second Section describes technology of processing kaolin and requirements,
imposed on quality of kaolin products, presents information on grades of
kaolin, produced by various enterprise-producers.
The third Section is devoted to mining and production of kaolin, including
information on production of kaolin of various kinds in CIS as a whole and
broken by countries, and on capacities of enterprises, producing primary
concentrated kaolin.
The fourth Section analyses current standing of the greatest producers of
kaolin in Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The Section presents
data on production capacities and their utilisation by enterprises, range of
products, volumes of consumption by domestic and foreign purchasers, plans of
the business development.
The fifth Section analyses data of Federal Customs Service of Russia on
foreign trade in kaolin in 1997-2006, and data of State Customs Service of
Ukraine on foreign trade in kaolin in 1999-2006.
The sixth Section presents review of prices on domestic and imported (by
Russia) kaolin. Both domestic and export prices of Russian producers of kaolin
are analysed.
The seventh Section, devoted to consumption of kaolin, first of all, in
Russia, presents supply-demand balance of kaolin in the country, sectoral
consumption pattern of kaolin. The Section describes standing of the main
industries, consuming kaolin: production building ceramics, production of
refractories and glass fiber, pulp-and paper industry. Besides, information on
the main Russian and Ukrainian company-consumers of kaolin.
The eighth, final Section of the report presents forecast of consumption of
kaolin in Russia, based on forecast of development of the main kaolin end-uses.
The Appendices present information on the greatest Russian consumers of
domestic and imported kaolin, as well as contact information on producers of
kaolin in Russia.
