Consider these statistics:
- 303 million mobile phones
- 82 million television sets
- 68 million air conditioning units
- 5 million cars
These figures provide an insight into the scale of production of consumer
goods in China in 2005, a year in which not all industries in the country were
seen to perform at their best.
What are the trends for these industries and for the finishing of such
consumer goods? To answer these and other questions, IRL will shortly be
publishing Potential of Automotive-Related Coatings in China, a new study
which looks at major consumer goods sectors and the coatings that they consume.
This report offers a good collective background for China' s major
manufacturing industries, highlighting major production centres for different
goods and offering a wealth of manufacturing statistics, key production
capacities, output growth data, recent, current and future trends.
Major producers of consumer goods in areas such as cars, televisions, sound
systems, air conditioning, toys, footwear, computing equipment, mobile phones,
white goods etc are all identified together with major suppliers of coatings
for use in the finishing of these items.
Research for this title has included an extensive interview programme with
Chinese coatings industry executives (over the period October - December
2006), which has been undertaken by staff at our Beijing office.
This report will serve as a valuable tool to strategic planners, business
analysts and marketing managers involved in the manufacture, distribution and
marketing of paints and coatings and their raw materials.
