Abstract
WATER, WATER..... forms the base of the technology expected to provide
the best growth in the Western European industrial wood coatings market,
according to this new report from IRL. Most in the industry expect
water-based wood finishes to grow at a rate of 10% pa in the coming years,
with UV-curable finishes at about half of this.
Technology substitution is already well under-way in the wood finishing
sector, with these technologies - and to a lesser extent polyurethanes -
showing the way forward. As some technologies collapse due to the effects
of legislation, expect another 48,000 tonnes of wood finishes demand in the
region by 2012! This technology substitution will lead to voids in some
national markets but continued pockets of demand in others, due to strong
regional preferences.
Above is just a glimpse into the future of the wood coatings market excerpted
from IRL' s new title, The Western European Market for Industrial Wood
Coatings, 6th Edition.
Research for this study has included an extensive interview programme with
senior executives in the industrial wood finishes sector between May and July
2008 and a period of desk research.
This report will serve as a valuable tool for strategic planners, business
analysts and marketing managers involved in the manufacture, distribution and
marketing of paints and coatings and their raw materials.
