Abstract
"China, directly, but mostly indirectly, was largely responsible for the
strong revenue and unit growth that occurred in 2003 and 2004 in the drives
market. Directly, strong growth in the Chinese drives market helped to lift
worldwide growth rates. Indirectly, the huge growth in the Chinese economy and
its attendant need for goods and services, particularly commodities, helped
lift the economies of its major trading partners, such as the US, Japan, and
Europe....Strong demand for commodities led to strong growth for premium AC
drives, and surprisingly DC drives, since the largest sectors for these drives
are sectors tied to the production of these commodities such as metals &
mining, chemicals & petroleum, and pulp & paper."
This is one of the many findings from the new IMS study of the worldwide
market for low voltage AC & DC drives. 2005 has proven to be another strong
growth year for the motor drives industry, following the 10% growth in 2004.
This report provides detailed statistics on market sizes, units shipped and
average selling prices on:
- Compact AC drives,
- Standard AC drives,
- Premium AC drives, and
- DC drives.
These product categories are further segmented geographically, by industry
sector, and by power. Forecasts are made through 2008.
An analysis of the competitive environment is also provided, including market
shares for 2004 for each product type in each of the major regions (Asia
Pacific, Americas, and EMEA).
