The light emitting diode market has grown strongly in 2005 and 2006 and is
forecast to reach over $8 billion in 2012. Production of high brightness LEDs
and particularly high power LEDs (1W+) supports new applications with
considerable market potential; such as electronic signs and signals,
automotive lighting, backlighting of large screens and general illumination.
