This newest edition of IMS Research' s utility meter report is a comprehensive
and detailed assessment of the worldwide gas meter market. It uses 2007 as the
base year with forecasts to 2012. The use of natural gas has seen a
significant increase in recent years due to energy demands, high cost of oil,
and environmental concerns and has resulted in additional opportunities for
metering.
IMS' aim in writing this report is to provide companies active in the gas
meter market with a detailed and accurate assessment of gas meters in the
Americas, EMEA, and Asia, shown on a country level. Meter shipments are split
by eight product categories throughout the residential, commercial, and
pipeline (T&D) sectors. Advanced meter sales such as AMR and prepayment meters
are quantified. Data was collected from supplier inputs through questionnaires
and interviews to build up a highly accurate picture of the market from the
"bottoms up."
