Abstract
This Manufacturing Insights report provides analysis of trends in the
brand-oriented value chain (BOVC) segments based on our performance index and
then outlines key business objectives, the resulting initiatives, and key IT
investment areas. The report also includes survey-based spending data that can
be used for benchmarking. BOVCs are structured around branded consumer products
that must manage highly variable demand of a large number of stock-keeping
units. Segments include health and beauty, food and beverage, and apparel.
Issues across these segments remain fairly consistent. "BOVC segments represent
industry segments that are dealing with a huge number of new products each
year, geographic expansion, and heightened competition. Smart IT investment
will be a major contributor for those companies that realize success," said Bob
Parker, VP of Research at Manufacturing Insights.
