Abstract
This Manufacturing Insights study shows that Vietnam is becoming an
increasingly attractive option to set up operations and be included as part of
the global supply chain. This study reviews three case studies of companies
that have set up operations in Vietnam and discusses the advantages and the
challenges the companies have faced in their venture there. Some guidance for
manufacturing investors and IT vendors considering business opportunities in
Vietnam are also provided.
Randy Sng, associate research director at Manufacturing Insights concluded,
"The opportunity is there so is the threat, for manufacturing companies
seriously considering investing in Vietnam, it must be part of the cost
innovation strategy for long-term benefits. The human capital and critical
asset investment like IT and energy efficient production plants must be
integral to the overall investment plan."
