Abstract
This IDC study explores the impact of increasing environmental concerns and
increased legislation on manufacturing companies in the Asia/Pacific (excluding
Japan) or APEJ region. Manufacturers now not only have to comply with new
legislation but also have to satisfy customers who are demanding increasingly
Green products, and also manage an environment where increased costs of raw
materials and consumables are impacting. Companies are increasingly looking to
IT to support their Green initiatives whether it be from investing in new
applications or to seek the support of the vendors to assist them in deploying
applications to support Green initiatives.
"We expect manufacturing companies in APEJ to adopt product life-cycle
management (PLM) applications to support decision making as companies
increasingly have to consider sustainability factors as well as cost,
availability, and performance into the decision process," says Chris Holmes,
vice president, Asia/Pacific Manufacturing Research.
