Abstract
This report focuses on the study of the global tantalum markets. It provides
region analysis on tantalum and niobium production. It features major tantalum
and niobium producers, prices, supply and demand conditions, international
trade, etc. The review also includes fu-ture outlook of the world tantalum and
niobium market.
Tantalum and niobium(columbium) are produced from their
ores, sometimes combined in one mineral. Tantalum is also produced from
tinrefinery slags. Tantalum is a heavy, very hard, ductile metallic element
that has a very high melting point (2996°C) and is strongly resistant to
chemical attack. It is used chiefly in electronic applications, especially in
miniature capacitors. Niobium is a soft and ductile metallic element that is
used mainly in special steels and super alloys.
