Abstract
Growth in the Japanese trauma device market is driven by the aging population
and the increasing penetration of the market by premium-priced devices such as
locking plates and trochanteric nails. Declining reimbursement rates for
trauma devices as set by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare
(MHLW) will, however, limit revenues over the forecast period.
The Japanese trauma device market is segmented into internal fixation and
external fixation devices. The internal fixation market is further segmented
into plates and screws, intramedullary nails (including trochanteric nails),
conventional hip screws, cannulated hip screws, and resorbable trauma devices.
