Abstract
The ONCAB, OPCAB, and EVH device markets will experience moderate growth while
the AAD market will expand rapidly. Increases in overall revenues will be
driven by the need for repeat revascularization procedures; furthermore, the
high prevalence of coronary artery disease among the growing aging population
is expanding the patient pool for CABG surgery. Although physician referral
patterns and patient populations have become well defined between percutaneous
coronary interventions (PCIs) and CABG procedures, PCI will continue to limit
growth of CABG procedure volumes as PCI techniques and technology improve.
Overall, the CABG device market will grow moderately between 2007 and 2012.
The US coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) device market was valued at almost
$600 million in 2007. Included in this market are on-pump coronary artery
bypass (ONCAB) perfusion devices, off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB)
devices and accessories, endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH) devices, and
anastomosis assist devices (AAD).
