Abstract
Plastic electronics using conductive polymers and small molecules may create a diverse range of
new products over the next few years and has utterly different characteristics from conventional
CMOS-based electronics. This report sets out the opportunities that are emerging as the result of
plastic electronics and discusses the competitive advantages that this new kind of electronics
brings in its wake and the impact it will have on the entire electronics market. The report also
analyzes the challenges that plastic electronics will have to overcome to be successful in the
marketplace and where and when it will find its most important applications. Application areas for
plastic electronics that are discussed in this report include displays, memory, logic/processors,
solar panels, RFID tags, sensors and advanced lighting systems. The report also provides a
"whos who" of important firms in this space and how the value chain in the plastic
electronics business is shaping up. The report concludes with a listing of what NanoMarkets believes
are the main business opportunities in the plastic electronics space, along with a forecast broken
out by product type.
