Abstract
GAZ is the second largest vehicle manufacturer in Russia, producing a wide
range of passenger cars, trucks, buses and off-road vehicles. The company,
originally known as Gorkovskij Avtomobilnyj Zavod (G AZ), traces its roots
back to March 1929, when the USSR government decided to establish an
automotive factory. It enlisted the aid of Ford and the two groups signed a
technical assistance agreement in May of that year.
