Abstract
Overview
This report covers the market for electronic analog, microprocessor-based
single loop, and microprocessor-based multi-loop temperature controllers, and
was designed to serve as a marketing tool for companies that currently
manufacture these products, or for companies who are considering entering the
business. The study provides insights, trends, and data on the 2005 global
market through 2010. Forecasts are given for units, and dollar volumes (in U.S
dollars), and average selling prices (in U.S. dollars) for each of the three
classes of temperature controllers. Report Highlights
The 2005 worldwide market for industrial electronic temperature controllers
totaled $US 835.8 million. The European and North American regional markets
will experience declines through 2010. These two very mature markets will
suffer from a combination of forces including declining prices, relocation of
OEMs and end users to utilize lower cost labor and materials in emerging areas
(such as China and Latin America), and competition from other means of
temperature control such as DCSs, PLCs, and PCs.
The evolutionary trend in temperature controls has been from manual control,
to mechanical and electromechanical thermostats, to analog controllers, to
single loop digital controllers, to multi-loop digital controllers, to
implementation in higher level multi-functional machine and process
controllers using PLCs, PCs and DCSs. This trend continues today with
increasing emphasis.
APPLICATION COVERAGE
Product Categories Analyzed
- Analog types that use analog electronic circuitry to determine and control
temperature, whether such controllers have analog or digital displays.
- Microprocessor-based single loop controllers that are designed and used
primarily for temperature control. This includes any with analog-digital
hybrid control circuitry.
- Microprocessor-based multi-loop controllers that are designed and used
primarily for temperature control.
